Charismatic, cheeky and radiating with talent, Melbourne-based singer-songwriter Jacob Fitzgerald brings witty lyricism, stirring storytelling and effervescent indie-pop/rock prowess to his sparkling new single ‘Pretty Good For My Mind’
'Pretty Good For My Mind’ sees Fitzgerald and his band exploring a new trajectory with a bright, pop-filled track that expertly melds nostalgic and modern influences. Animated vocoder backing vocals and distinct dancefloor beats conjure images of voluminous locks and flamboyant fits, whilst toasty guitar melodies keep a flicker of indie-rock sunshine in the mind.
Often inspired by his family, Fitzgerald wrote ‘Pretty Good For My Mind’ as an ode to his parent’s origin story, detailing the night they met with clever lyrics and reminiscent soundscapes. Fitzgerald states:
“All my life I’ve been told my Dad was a hot-headed rebel and that my Mum was the beautiful, calming influence that made him get it together! I’ve never really seen that side of my father, so I found it to be quite romantic and poetic that after meeting on the dancefloor as teens, they came together, grew as people and built a whole life. Whilst this track is conceptually about how my folks met, the overall message is that our partner should bring out the best in us. They should be good for our minds!”
